I AM CONFUSED, WHICH MATCHA GRADE IS FOR ME?
At Mikamatcha we provide 3 grades of Matcha tea. We have Premium ceremonial grade, Everyday High grade and food grade (culinary). The premium ceremonial grade is the best grade available in the UK and Japan and is worth every penny. It can be drank everyday. The premium ceremonial grade matcha is for the real tea connoisseurs who want to go the extra mile and reap the maximum benefits of Matcha. With is sweet taste, distinct lack of any bitterness, creamy, frothy and superior umami colour, we would recommend this tea for anyone.
Our everyday Matcha is the highest grade Everyday Matcha available online and we have sourced the best supplier in Japan for this. This grade is especially blended to draw out its pleasant natural bitter-sweet taste. Very affordable, superior umami colour, creamy and frothy. We would recommend this for daily use. Our premium, everyday high grade and food grade matcha’s are all organic certified. Our Food grade is best used for food, baking, cooking, lattes, shakes and more. Great colour unlike some other food grade matcha online which are brownish in colour. Our culinary grade matcha is yellow green in colour. Made from young organic tea leaves. So if you are a food enthusiast, a restaurant, coffee shop or cafe, this is the place to get your food grade matcha.

MY MATCHA TASTES TOO BITTER. WHAT SHALL I DO?
There are a number of reasons why your matcha may taste a bit bitter. Your matcha may have been exposed to too much air, may have been left open, which wil lalso change its colour. Please ensure you always keep your matcha air tight and out of direct sunlight. Your matcha may have also surpassed the expiry date. Another reason maybe because you are over boiling the water you are making matcha tea with. The best temperature to make the perfect cup of matcha is around 80 celcius. We do not reccomend it to me boiling boiling hot. Simply boil your water and allow it to cool for a very short while to get the perfect temperature. Using extremely hot boiling water will burn the matcha and give it an odd bitter taste.
HOW MUCH MIKAMATCHA SHALL I USE FOR ONE CUP OF MATCHA?
We recommend to use half a tsp which is around 2g of Mikamatcha for one serving or 1 cup.
IS MATCHA BREWED OR DISSOLVED IN WATER?
Matcha is not like other teas which consist of loose tea which are in a tea bag. Matcha green tea is finely grounded into a powder form. Matcha consists in tea leaves finely ground into powder. The powder is dissolved in to lukewarm water and then finely whisked till it is like a green thick liquid. Please see our instructions page on how to make the perfect cup of Mikamatcha.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MATCHA TEABAGS IN YOUR TRADITIONAL SUPERMARKET AND OUR MATCHA?
Yes there is a huge difference. There is some brands in your local supermarkets which state “MATCHA”, but when further examining the product it is either dried loose tea leaves or Teabags. It usually is called Sencha Matcha. So do not get confused. And there is obviously a huge price difference. Our Matcha is the freshest, young leaf, organic superior umami powder which is stone-ground. The Matcha sencha that is sold in supermarkets and local shops are even sourced differently. That form of tea is grown in direct sunlight in the final months before harvest where as our matcha is grown in the shade with fog.
HOW IS MATCHA STORED?
Our packaging is air tight which comes with air seals. The cans we provide the product with are A class quality Aluminium, also thick, and do not allow any sunlight to pass through or heat. Our zip lock bags are also excellent. The zip allows the matcha to be preserved in the best manner. We at Mikamatcha have gone the full length to source the best packaging, unlike some other sellers online who are all replica of each other also who sell glass jars which sunlight gets through. We would advise all Matcha tea drinkers to store their matcha air tight in our jars and our of direct sunlight or heat. You can also keep in the fridge. The sell by date is around 1 Year from opening.
